Day of the Mom

Today was definitely a day where I did nothing but exist in the mom zone.  Hubby called at work because our son blew off his laundry chores (again).  He takes it as a personal insult, I see it that Mike is 16 and nothing is personal, they are just chores.  Melanie is going crazy since there is less than 36 hours from the new Harry Potter book release.  What will she wear to the premiere party, which of her friends are joining us, how late will I let her stay up to read tomorrow night, etc.  Mike wanted to go to his girlfriend’s house, even though he blew off the chores for the last 2 days.  Then, I had a wrestling booster meeting at the school, and picked up Mike on the way home.  Definite mom zone evening.  I did manage to squeeze out one thing for myself today.  At lunch, I entered the Downtown YMCA’s new weight loss challenge contest.  They are selecting 20 peeps to participate.  If you are selected, you are allowed a 6 month membership, a personal trainer, a nutritionist, and various other services to aid you in the quest to be the biggest loser of them all.  The WINNER, gets a one year membership, and bunches and bunches of cash and prizes.  This seemed like a good idea since I have been trying to exercise and lose weight since January.  Down 16 pounds and 2 dress sizes so far, but I have SOOOOO much more to go.  I feel better, sexier, and I have more energy.  I want more of it, though.  Maybe if I do this for me, it will benefit the mom zone, too.  Here’s to hoping I get selected to participate, and Mike finishes his laundry tomorrow.
